Kenny Rogers may be best remembered for introducing world pop audiences to the charm of country music houses. His job as ambassador was not only open to the ears of the audience. As in most of his songs, Rogers did not write that cruel account that the raped young man avenges one of his three brothers after they raped a man's girlfriend. (Accredited by Roger Bowling and Billy Ed Wheeler). But Rogers' intimate vocal performance is a fine example of the compassion he found in the commentary.
